Instead of just using the defaults \u201cCompany Website\u201d and \u201cPersonal Website\u201d, LinkedIn allows you to <\/span><b>customize <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">them and make them <\/span><b>more appealing to your users.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> For example instead of listing \u201cCompany Website\u201d, if you choose the option \u201cOther:\u201d on the drop down menu, you have 30 characters to write something<\/span><b> attention-grabbing, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">like \u201c<\/span><b><i>Learn to Master Social Media<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d or \u201c<\/span><b><i>Time-Saving Social Media Apps<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They give you three spaces, so make sure you take advantage of them! You have lots of options\u2026. think about <\/span><b>linking to a special promotion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> you are running&#8230;or a page about your <\/span><b>newest product<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2026.or right to a document of your <\/span><b>newsletter<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your Website links are viewable on your public profile, so even people who find you on <\/span><b>search engines will see them<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, opening up the door for <\/span><b>increased traffic to your site<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4) Summary <\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your summary is also one of the most important parts of your profile since it&#8217;s usually<\/span><b> the first thing people will read about you <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">once they\u2019ve clicked on your name. There are many different theories for how to write your summary (past, present, future model, 1st person, 3rd person, etc.) We <\/span><b>recommend writing <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the following format:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write in the <\/span><b>first <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">person<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 paragraphs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 sentences or fewer in each paragraph<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Include <\/span><b>keywords <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that buyers might search for<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the first paragraph, expand on what you wrote in your <\/span><b>headline<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the second paragraph, be specific about <\/span><b>what you do<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>what you have done<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Especially since social profiles are some of the top results on search engines, as we explain in this post <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/en\/blog\/seo-and-social-media\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>optimizing your SEO on Social Media<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are a few places where it&#8217;s <\/span><b>essential <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to include your keywords<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a) Summary<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">b) Work Experiences<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">c) Website URL<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">d) Skills and Endorsements<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e) Title, Current and Previous Experiences<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6) Join Groups<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you join groups that are related to your industry, it gives you the opportunity to <\/span><b>gain more credibility and exposure to potential buyers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that may be interested in your product or service. Think about what your<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/en\/blog\/buyer-persona-social-media-strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>buyer persona<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would be interested in and join those groups and <\/span><b>participate in conversations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Being a part of groups helps you <\/span><b>keep an eye on current events in your industry<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>connect with potential customers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although LinkedIn gives you the opportunity to include up to 50 groups, we <\/span><b>recommend including around 5-7 on your profile<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. That way, viewers can get a good feel for what it is you you are interested in. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to system and notification settings to choose which groups will be displayed. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7) Recommendations<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recommendations are comments that other users can leave for you that serve as a <\/span><b>reference to your work, product, or service.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> You can ask current and former managers, colleagues, and customers or clients. \u00a0While nice recommendations from bosses are nice to read, what really catches potentials buyers\u2019 attention are <\/span><b>reviews from other customers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This will <\/span><b>boost your credibility <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>help gain their trust<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In the case that you ask a boss, we recommend working for someone for at least 6 months before requesting a recommendation. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8) Connections<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019ve had any interactions with any of your LinkedIn contacts, either online or in person, you should <\/span><b>invite them to be one of your connections<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This will build up your \u201c1st degree connections\u201d which allows you to interact with them using other features on the site. Which brings us to our next point\u2026. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">9) Skills and Endorsements<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This feature is great for your LinkedIn profile. Now, instead of having<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> just a list of skills<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on your page, people can actually endorse what you have claimed to be good at. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once people start endorsing you the endorsements show up in same \u201cSkills &amp; Expertise section\u201d where you originally listed them. Your connections can also introduce their own skills that you never even knew you had! (You have the opportunity to show or hide whichever ones you want)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.postcron.com\/blog-en\/2015\/12\/SKILLS-AND-ENDORSEMENTS-LINKED-IN.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2253\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.postcron.com\/blog-en\/2015\/12\/SKILLS-AND-ENDORSEMENTS-LINKED-IN.png\" alt=\"LinkedIn profile endorsements\" width=\"714\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LinkedIn lets you include up to 50 skills, but it&#8217;s probably better to <\/span><b>limit yourself to 3-5<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. People are looking for <\/span><b><i>specialists <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">these days. We want to know <\/span><b><i>what you do <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b><i>that you are good at it<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, not that you are <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sort of good <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at everything. Having a few skills that are heavily endorsed will speak wonders to potentials buyers viewing your profile. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Endorsements<\/strong> are easy ways to give someone props without sitting down and writing them a recommendation. However, if you NEED recommendations, you can consider <\/span><b>asking someone who has endorsed you if they would be willing to provide you with one<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It&#8217;s a good start because you already know that they think highly of your work. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10) Custom LinkedIn URL<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Change your LinkedIn URL to <\/span><b>www.linkedin.com\/in\/yourname<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This is make it easy to search for you, to send out links, and you can even print them on business cards or materials you give to customers. If your name is a common one, consider including your middle initial or a number or your business name too. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11) Experience<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While this section can resemble a resume, it&#8217;s important to keep in mind that you&#8217;re trying to reach potential customers. Start by listing your professional titles and places of work.
