If you are on Twitter you&#8217;ve probably seen this. Many apps were made specifically to offer <strong>\u201cmass follow\u201d services since it&#8217;s one of the easiest and simplest ways to look as if you have a\u00a0\u201csuccessful\u201d \u00a0profile<\/strong> but things have changed and being a \u201cserial follower\u201d isn&#8217;t only in but also <strong>it&#8217;s not smart since it leads us nowhere (good)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The seemingly \u201cwinning\u201d attitude of a serial is as phony as this:<\/p>\n<p><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1023\" src=\"http:\/\/postcron.com\/es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/yesnojimcarrey.gif\" alt=\"yesnojimcarrey\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" \/><\/center>Let&#8217;s see, for maaany years now <strong>Twitter not news and it&#8217;s become a true source of information and news<\/strong>. People <em>no longer use or log into the platform just to play who&#8217;s more \u201csuccessful\u201d, who gets to 10K followers first.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Today people seek good content<\/strong>, and for that, it&#8217;s necessary to have a timeline where you can find that easily,<strong> instead of having to go over an endless scroll until you find what interests you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MichaelHyatt\">Michael Hyatt<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chrisbrogan\">Chris Brogan<\/a> are two examples of really successful people within the social media world that decided many years ago to start the habit of cleaning Twitter and <strong>promoting quality over quantity.<\/strong> Hyatt did a \u201cmass unfollow\u201d and cleared his account <strong>eliminating over 105K people<\/strong> and his results were excellent: <strong> he was able to make out of Twitter a real social environment in which he has real and quality interactions with the people he has kept.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>What type of user are you? &#8211; Twitter\u00b4s Golden Ratio<\/h2>\n<p>There&#8217;s a saying that goes: <strong>\u201cless is more\u201d<\/strong> which I think adjusts perfectly to Twitter&#8217;s new spirit. I relate to the fear of <strong>many people that clearing their accounts would mean to end up like<\/strong> Milhouse \ud83d\ude42 &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1019\" src=\"http:\/\/postcron.com\/es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/milhouse_forever_alone.gif\" alt=\"milhouse_forever_alone\" width=\"500\" height=\"379\" \/><\/center>However, I think <strong>you shouldn&#8217;t be afraid of that because the goal isn&#8217;t to be like or unlike Milhouse or to have 10 people on the other side of the \u201cseesaw\u201d<\/strong> since we wouldn&#8217;t be able to use it effectively and enjoy the game.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter is as simple as that, and since the new habit <strong> \u201cquality &gt; quantity \u201d has been encouraged Twitter&#8217;s \u201cfollower\u2019s ratio\u201d became an<\/strong> important indicator of <strong>real \u201csuccess\u201d<\/strong> in this platform. Basically <strong>it lets us know what type of user you are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1022\" src=\"http:\/\/postcron.com\/es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/dontcare.gif\" alt=\"dontcare\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" \/><\/center>Actually, <strong>I do hope you are interested in the ratio because it&#8217;s a \u201cquality\u201d indicator<\/strong> of the type of user you are and your popularity, but also because from another perspective it can indicate to how much \u201cnoise\u201d versus valuable content you are exposed to.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In order to calculate the ratio<\/strong> you only need to divide the number of people following you \u201cF\u201d by the number of people, you follow \u201cf\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>F\/f = ratio<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>If the result is more than 1<\/strong> you have a<strong> quite optimized profile<\/strong>, you are popular and interesting.
