That\u2019s why today I\u2019m presenting you with the latest Twitter updates for Community Managers,<\/strong> so you can ensure to keep your strategies up to date!<\/p>\n

The Twitter updates<\/em> that you\u2019ll see here have been announced over the past months and a large part of them will be implemented over the next weeks <\/strong>in the U.S. and the rest of the world. Therefore, if you still aren\u2019t seeing the Twitter changes<\/strong>, don\u2019t despair! They\u2019ll get to you shortly.<\/p>\n

Now, let\u2019s move on to what you\u2019re really here for:<\/p>\n

The Latest Twitter Updates that Every Community Manager Should Know in order to Keep their Campaigns Up to Date<\/h2>\n

\"Twitter<\/a><\/p>\n

1- Images and links will no longer affect Twitter\u2019s 140 character limit.<\/h2>\n

The Twitter team recently announced<\/strong><\/a> that in a few weeks it will be possible to include images and links in tweets without any characters being taken from the 140 limit<\/strong> the platform established. So now users have an additional 47 characters <\/strong>to utilize in their publications. Awesome!, right?<\/p>\n

As for the origins of the change Jack Dorsey<\/strong>, the company\u2019s CEO, stated: \u201cWe spent a lot of time observing what people do on Twitter and noticed that a lot of people share photos with a caption. So we thought: \u201c\u00bfWhat if this text\u2026 was actually text, (\u2026) that could be searched for and reiterated?\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s how they put their minds to this task.<\/p>\n

\"Twitter<\/a><\/p>\n

This Twitter update signifies a drastic change to the \u201ctraditional\u201d world in which the Social Network was using a limit on the characters <\/strong>that publications could have. This update\u2019s purpose it to give users a larger ability to express themselves <\/strong>and take advantage of text benefits in terms of searches and positioning<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

2- The Twitter application for Android will enable the possibility of transmitting live on the Periscope platform<\/h2>\n

Twitter has recently announced<\/strong><\/a> the inclusion of a \u201cPeriscope button\u201d<\/em><\/strong> in the Twitter app for Android<\/em>, which will allow users to make live video transmission from their Twitter accounts <\/strong>through the Periscope<\/strong> platform. The change is expected to be implemented in the next few months.<\/p>\n

So when people touch the \u201cPeriscope button on Twitter\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, they will be redirected so that they can download Periscope from the Google Play Store<\/strong><\/a>. It should be noted that Periscope<\/strong> is the platform that Twitter acquired in order to enable real time video transmissions on the micro-blogging Social Network<\/strong> through streaming<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\"Twitter<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are developing a \u2018Transmit live\u2019 on Twitter button to test it out among a small number of users\u201d<\/em>, the programmers explain. \u201cIn time, the entire Twitter community will be able to transmit live videos from their Twitter profiles\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The implementation of this button will be the first sign of integration between Twitter and Periscope<\/strong> since it\u2019s acquisition by the Social Network last year.<\/p>\n

3- Users will now be able to use a GIF search on Twitter<\/h2>\n

To the delight of animated GIF <\/strong><\/a>lovers (myself included!), Twitter announced<\/strong><\/a> the incorporation of a GIF search<\/strong> that users will be able to utilize while composing their tweets.<\/em> This way, they\u2019ll be able to find the perfect animated image to accompany their publications without needing to look for it outside of the Social Network.<\/p>\n

So, in order to utilize the Twitter GIF search,<\/em><\/strong> all you have to do is click on the \u201cGIFS\u201d button<\/strong> that you\u2019ll see in the tweet editor. After pressing it, a window will pop up in which you\u2019ll be able to choose the best animated GIFS, ordered by category<\/strong>, to enhance your publications with a touch of humor or visual art.<\/p>\n

In regards to the incorporation of this tool, the Twitter team explained that they decided to implement it after noting that during 2015 more than 100 million GIFS were tweeted <\/strong>on the Social Network. Lastly, this is big news, being as tweets with images, animated GIFS and videos obtain many more views<\/strong><\/a> than those who only include text, therefore I advise that you be aware of this implementation in order to take advantage of it with your publications.<\/p>\n

4- Advertisers will be able to utilize new tools, such as Conversational Announcements<\/h2>\n

As you may have noticed, the past Twitter updates<\/em> not only expanded their presence on the Internet<\/em><\/strong> (through the Google-Twitter Partnership<\/strong>) and broadened user experience<\/em><\/strong>, but also aimed at providing more tools to advertisers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So in addition to the \u201cpromotional tweets\u201d<\/em> <\/strong>launched over the past years, now Twitter will allow you to create Conversational Advertisements<\/strong>. With these you\u2019ll be able to interact with your audience<\/em><\/strong> through tweets<\/em> linked to your brand in order to promote your hashtags<\/strong><\/a>, define your business and obtain information for your market studies.<\/p>\n

\"Twitter<\/a><\/p>\n

For this exact purpose, Twitter created Conversational Advertisements,<\/strong> which are characterized by appearing in users\u2019 TimeLine<\/em> in the form of survey tweets, <\/strong>as you can see in the image above. In these, a phrase or tweet with a question for the audience is seen, as well as two buttons in order to respond through the announcement’s preconceived hashtags.<\/p>\n

This way, people will be able to opt between two or more hashtags as a form of response<\/strong>. Additionally, in order to respond, users will have to publish one of the proposed hashtags <\/strong>(by simply pressing the button, as shown in the photo), which will greatly favor the spread of each campaign.<\/p>\n

5- Twitter will incorporate a Connect tab in order to help users socialize with other people<\/h2>\n

In the near future, Twitter Android<\/strong> and iOS<\/strong> users will be able to benefit from the Connect tab<\/em><\/strong>, created by the Social Network in order to facilitate interaction with and ability to find people.<\/strong> In it you\u2019ll find the accounts suggested<\/em><\/strong> through refined algorithms and users will be able to synchronize their contacts list<\/em><\/strong> with these addresses.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Connect tab<\/em> <\/strong>is one of the latest Twitter updates <\/strong>for helping new users learn how to utilize Twitter<\/strong><\/a>, and help them find content which interests them. To do this, it offers people a selection of relevant news<\/strong> based on their users\u2019 profile.<\/p>\n

6- New functions will be added to the Twitter app for the Universal Windows 10 platform, such as the possibility to have private conversations in groups<\/h2>\n

Of late, Twitter has <\/strong>updated<\/strong><\/a> its app for the universal Windows 10 Platform <\/strong>by making it so that the users of said operating system have new opportunities while using this Social Network. Among them, we\u2019d like to highlight the ability to privately send and receive messages directly from a group of people.<\/strong><\/p>\n
