Get comfortable and eat a cookie.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">12 Key Points to create the most effective email newsletter around<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"western\">1.\u00a0\u00a0 Define what business objectives you want to reach with your email newsletter<\/h3>\n<p class=\"western\">Decide what organizational objectives you want to share, beyond that of complying with a great content distribution channel:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong>build an audience,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong>improve your engagement levels,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong>sell more,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong>cross-sell,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong>keep users and current clients, or<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">create brand awareness.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"western\">2. What type of email newsletter do you want to send?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"western\">A common mistake done by many is when they try to add all the information in one place, resulting in a disorganized and unfocused piece. Write an irresistible email subject<\/h3>\n<p class=\"western\">If you think the most difficult task is to seduce your audience so they can be part of your VIP list, think again. This is only the beginning. Because even if they subscribe to your emails, there is no guarantee they are going to open them\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Unless, the email <strong>subject line gets their attention. It needs to be different, creative, captivating and stir an emotion.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">I could write about this for a long time, but to dive into this topic would deviate from the objective of this post, so I invite you to find tips to be creative with the subject line of your newsletters <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/en\/blog\/create-perfect-blog-post-8-super-simple-secrets-scientifically-proven\/\" target=\"_blank\">in point 1 of this article: The Perfect Caption.<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"western\">6. Write concise copy and choose a minimalist design<\/h3>\n<p class=\"western\"><span lang=\"en-US\">In 2006, a <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.useit.com\/alertbox\/newsletters-study-3.html\">study by Jacob Nielsen<\/a><\/span> claimed that a person invested on average, approximately 51 seconds in reading a newsletter. This a an optimistic number considering that 10 years later, <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/3858309\/attention-spans-goldfish\/\" target=\"_blank\">another study<\/a><\/span> claims that the human being has an attention span of 12 seconds, one second less than a goldfish.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3 class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><em><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Be direct, clear and to the point. No one is going to spend all day, not even on his or her weekend to read your email newsletter. Make sure your content is scannable; present it in blocks, with blank spaces, large tittles, brief notes and bullet points.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Give your readers a spoonful of content, enough so they want to click and consume more<\/strong>. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/en\/blog\/how-to-create-calls-to-action\/\" target=\"_blank\">Generate a strong call-to-action<\/a><\/span> and direct them to your e-commerce, blog or social networks for more information. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.postcron.com\/blog-en\/2017\/06\/newsletter-trello.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4880\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.postcron.com\/blog-en\/2017\/06\/newsletter-trello.png\" alt=\"The Trello newsletter above is a great piece.\" width=\"498\" height=\"752\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"western\">\u00a07. Make it personal<\/h3>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><strong>\u201c<\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Great brands don\u00b4t talk about themselves\u201d<\/strong>, said <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/marketingland.com\/talk-human-time-brands-get-real-145728\">Jordan Kretchmer<\/a><\/span> and he won my heart. To do this, try starting small and with significant actions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Create conversations and motivate your followers to answer your emails.<\/strong> Make sure you answer their comments. They appreciate if there is a person behind the emails. You may receive comments and questions that help you improve your email newsletters, even key areas of your business.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Send your emails from real addresses:<\/strong> the most disinterest you can show your community is to send them an email from a no-reply@yourbrandhere.com.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Personalize your newsletters with the name of the recipient and sign them with the name of someone on your team<\/strong> (pets also count as \u201csomeone on your team\u201d).<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Tell stories.<\/strong> Tell them about what you learned and mistakes you made. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"western\">8. Make sure your email newsletters are responsive<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<h4 class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\" style=\"color: #999999;\"><em>The opening rate of emails on mobile devices <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.emailmonday.com\/mobile-email-usage-statistics\">has increased 150% in the last 3 years<\/a>,<\/span> to the point where more than half of Internet users check their inbox from mobile devices.<\/em> <\/span><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Even, <strong>70% of mobile users eliminate emails they don\u00b4t see correctly on their devices.<\/strong> Those brands that ignore this reality are destined to be forgotten. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Make sure you <strong>check the main sources of traffic to your site and optimize your email newsletter visits for all devices<\/strong> used by your subscribers. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"western\">\u00a09. Make sure your subscribers can unsubscribe easily<\/h3>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Hey, don\u00b4t take this the wrong way. But the harder you make it, the more anger you can arouse<\/strong> (adding you as spam, or expressing their anger on social networks \u2013 this happened to a friend of mine). <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>The key is to maintain an active and faithful community.<\/strong> Don\u00b4t use fancy words or hide the unsubscribe button. In addition to maintaining a reliable list, <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3 class=\"western\"><em><span style=\"color: #999999;\">having a clear unsubscribing process prevents you from being added as spam and avoids rowing upstream so your email rates, openings and clicks don\u00b4t fall apart.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.impactbnd.com\/blog\/8-creatively-effective-unsubscribe-pages-you-should-take-notes-from\"><span lang=\"en-US\">You can always do something about getting them back\u2026 <\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"western\">10. Be flexible with the subscription preferences<\/h3>\n<p class=\"western\"><strong>Allow your subscribers to control what and where they want to receive them. This allows your subscribers to customize their preferences as much as possible, especially as it relates to how often they receive information.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3 class=\"western\"><em><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Offer them the option to subscribe to daily or weekly emails or offer them other newsletters divided by topics (HubSpot, for example divides emails for marketing, sales and agencies) or geographical areas.<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"western\">This not only serves your interests and preferences, but also allows you to gather more information about those things that really matter to them.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"western\">11. Try, try and try again<\/h3>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">You are going to find hundreds of posts ensuring they have the secret formula to turn you into an email marketing guru\/ninja\/Jedi. Let me tell you there is something that will never lie to you, <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/DUT5rEU6pqM\">apart from Shakira\u00b4s hips<\/a><\/span>, your analytics chart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">With this I am not saying the articles are wrong, only that you use these good practices as a springboard. <strong>Try to test and discover your own magic formula. Only you can find out if it works and what doesn\u00b4t with your particular audience, based on the data sent in your emails.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Use your favorite marketing email and turn it into a lab.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Perform <span lang=\"en-US\">A\/B testing on those parameters that are most relevant to your business. Try:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong>Subjects,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong>Copies,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong>Call-to-action<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong>Colors<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong>Add and remove images<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong>Create e-mail models<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\"><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">Try using plain text.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"western\">Send your newsletter in the morning, in the afternoon, during a workday, on a weekend\u2026 Try playing with it and let the metrics speak for themselves.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"western\">12. Measure the impact of your emails and improve them constantly<\/h3>\n<p class=\"western\">There are many ways to measure and analyze the performance of your campaigns. Today all the sender emails in the market have analytical charts you can use in order to optimize your campaigns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\">The truth is that metrics used to measure the impact of your email newsletter campaigns depend greatly on the objectives you want to reach (see point 1). Despite this, some main indicators are relevant when you want to optimize your emails, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Opening rate<\/strong> \u2013 how many subscribers open a newsletter in their inbox. If this number is low, try to optimize your subject lines.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Total clicks (CTR)<\/strong> \u2013 the number of times a reader clicks on a link to read additional content. <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Number of indifferent subscribers<\/strong>\u2013 this is the number of subscribers that do not open or have not interacted with any of your emails. This indicator lets you know your content is not relevant, valuable or you are not reaching the right audience.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Correlation between your active subscribers and approach opportunities<\/strong>\u2013 Detects subscribers who are loyal to your brand and are potential leads to generating sales and a special<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"> <a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.hubspot.com\/marketing\/executive-guide-effective-lead-nurturing#sm.0001g0ycm6ip1e6tue11fyubv5qn5\">nurturing strategy lead <\/a>f<\/span>or them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Traffic from your newsletter toward your site<\/strong>\u2013 Start off by making sure the links in your newsletter go to your site and have UTM posts. This way you can measure how much traffic you send from this link and its behavior.
