This is exactly what we are going to focus on in this post:<strong> how can social media content help with SEO results<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">How does Google understand social media?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"western\">We use Google because it\u2019s the main search engine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.postcron.com\/blog-en\/2017\/06\/google-uk.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4975\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.postcron.com\/blog-en\/2017\/06\/google-uk.png\" alt=\"google uk\" width=\"482\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">According to global data from <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/gs.statcounter.com\/#browser-ww-monthly-201307-201307-map\">StatCounter Global Stats,<\/a><\/strong><\/span> Google is the most used search engine around: collecting 89,94% in comparison with 4,37% for Bing and 3,93% for Yahoo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">In Latin America, this trend is the same. The numbers speak for themselves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"western\">Colombia: 95,21% for Google searches, 4,11% for Bing and 0,36% for Yahoo<\/li>\n<li class=\"western\">Brazil: 96% for Google, 3,28% for Bing and 0,57% for Yahoo<\/li>\n<li class=\"western\">Chile: 96,25% corresponds to Google, 3,31% to Bing and 0,18% to Yahoo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"western\">Since this is the case, all the SEO efforts focus on Google.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">To start with, it\u2019s important to understand how Google interprets social media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">A search on Google is made up from several algorithms that interpret hundreds of <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/en\/blog\/new-seo-techniques\/\" target=\"_blank\">positioning factors <\/a><\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\">(meaning, classification variables that come into play when a page is displayed). Since they are assigned to a site, these algorithms place search results of a site in a certain location.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">In the past, many said that social interactions were one of the factors that Google considered when it provided rankings. However, Google treats social media as a web page and not as a factor (it\u2019s important to remember that <strong>social presence is a positioning factor<\/strong>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Therefore, not all published content on a social network, even if it\u2019s indexed, can be indexed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">As I mentioned earlier, <strong>Google is made up of various algorithms that interpret content quality, veracity, and influence, among other factors.<\/strong> Therefore, published content on social media can eventually get a good SERP (search results page position).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><a href=\"https:\/\/s3.postcron.com\/blog-en\/2017\/06\/GoogleSERP.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4979\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.postcron.com\/blog-en\/2017\/06\/GoogleSERP.png\" alt=\"GoogleSERP\" width=\"482\" height=\"371\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Google doesn\u2019t always index a social media update, <strong>even if the update or entry isn\u2019t a positioning factor.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">If social media is not a classification factor, <strong>should I forget about this for SEO?<\/strong> <strong>NO!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Google uses Google+ signs, for example, to interpret some local results and uses data on Twitter to discover new content <strong>(Google has a partnership with Twitter).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">How to use networks to improve SEO results<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Have you ever stopped to think that social media can be a search mechanism? Networks such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter use <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/en\/blog\/guide-to-using-hashtags\/\" target=\"_blank\">hashtags<\/a><\/span><\/strong> that can provide keywords to work with.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">In addition, Google has its own social media: Google +, used in some rich SERP results.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Here are a number of possible applications for social media so you can improve your SEO results.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">1.- Do you have a local business? Use Google My Business<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Google\u2019s algorithms are responsible for local searches and have a <strong>geolocation<\/strong> set in place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">One of them is <strong>Pigeon<\/strong>, an algorithm that prioritizes SERP results depending on the location of users, showing information such as comments from other users, distance, price, addresses, and contacts among other information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><strong>Where does this information come from? From Google My Business!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/s3.postcron.com\/blog-en\/2017\/06\/geolocation.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4982\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.postcron.com\/blog-en\/2017\/06\/geolocation.png\" alt=\"geolocation\" width=\"464\" height=\"439\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Since it\u2019s a Google product, users need to have a mandatory Google account (it can be registered with a company email address, Gmail or any other domain).<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Once the email is sent, users need to create a company page on Google +, confirm the information with Google and access comment data, peak times, contacts, recommendations, photographs, etc., for local searches that have to do with a business or name of a company.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">However, we must keep something in mind: <strong>even if these steps are taken doesn\u2019t mean the company is going to appear on the SERP when someone who is close conducts a search.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">This depends on some factors such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"western\">Competition<\/li>\n<li class=\"western\">Richness of the information<\/li>\n<li class=\"western\">Authority<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"western\">Then, the more you plan the submitted data, the greater the likelihood of having displayed data on the SERP.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">2.- Take advantage of the richness in a Twitter search to understand what users are talking about<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"western\">Everyone knows that Twitter is a good social network to distribute content, follow trends, interact, etc. But, did you know that Twitter is also the owner of a powerful search engine\/investigation tool?<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">In addition to searches conducted by users and hashtags, you can find practically anything on this Social Network if you use the right command.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">As usual, valuable information is hidden. Talk with them.<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"western\">In the same way that social networks are useful to distribute content, they are also useful to understand an audience and adapt digital marketing strategies accordingly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Looking more specifically at Facebook, there are several ways to understand the behavior of an audience and adapt your <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/en\/blog\/seo-for-blogs-basic-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\">SEO strategy.<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\">Facebook has 2 ways to analyze an audience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/en\/blog\/facebook-insights-statistics-facebook-page\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Audience Insights<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\">Graph Search<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"western\">To access <em>Audience Insights<\/em>, all you need to do is be an administrator of a page. You can analyze Facebook as a whole or as a specific page (for a wealth of data you must have more than 1,000 likes).<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">It\u2019s possible to analyze interests, gender, if the user uses a desktop or a mobile phone more, pages that have more connection with an audience, among other data.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">In the case of <strong>Graphsearch<\/strong>, I can say it has its own power, since, in a certain way, Facebook turns into in a huge database.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">To access Graphsearch, you don\u2019t need to be an administrator of a page, but the Facebook language must be set up in English.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">This way, the search field on Facebook is turned into a tool similar to a giant database bank of this Social Network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">There are thousands of available options, such as how to discover why groups of people follow a certain page, what groups a certain person participates with, photographs or videos of people who were in a specific country or event, among many other search options.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Since there are thousands of commands, let me share the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jonloomer.com\/2013\/06\/18\/facebook-graph-search-business-examples\/\">post of <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jonloomer.com\/2013\/06\/18\/facebook-graph-search-business-examples\/\">Jon Loomer<\/a><span lang=\"en-US\">, even though he is old, he continues to be useful, with several Graph Search commands. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"es-ES\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Using social media to position a site is not something Google likes.
